What is Electromagnetic Lock?

Perhaps most people know how to use their access card system. It’s simply just present your card near to the card reader and within second, your door lock will open automatically. But, do you know whats make your door lock even you didn’t lock it?

Yes, please spot the white small box at top of your door. Usually, from inside of your door. That’s what they called ELECTROMAGNETIC LOG or simply as EM-LOCK. Basically, EM-LOCK will do its job as what its being called, to lock the door with electromagnet. EM-LOCK require 12V input power for normal operational. This normally taken directly by using 12V power adapter, from relay box or from your access control panel (door controller).

EM-LOCK comes with different size and weight. It can be differentiated by weight : 150lbs, 300lbs, 600lbs or 1200lbs (75kg,150kg,300kg or 600kg). The number of weight show you how strong EM-LOCK can hold the door while in active mode.

All EM-LOCK’s look simmilar eventhougt its come with many brand. Take a look at this picture, I’m sure your access control system use either one of it.
